FAQs
1. What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
It’s completely okay to be new to therapy. I’ll help guide the conversation, explain what to expect, and make space for any questions along the way. You do not need to come in knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. In fact, many people start therapy unsure of what they need or what they’re hoping for.
Part of our work is discovering that together. Over time, my hope is that therapy begins to feel like your own space: a place where you feel more comfortable bringing in what matters, asking questions, and exploring what you want to understand or change.
2. How do I get started?
You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation or reach out through the contact form to explore whether working together feels like a good fit.
3. What can I expect during the consultation call?
The consultation is a brief, no-pressure conversation where we can discuss what brings you to therapy, what you’re looking for, and any questions you may have. It also gives us an opportunity to see whether working together feels like a good fit.
4. What happens after the consultation call?
If we decide that working together feels like a good fit, we’ll discuss scheduling your first session. Before we meet, you’ll receive intake paperwork to complete through a secure client portal. If you plan to use insurance, I’ll also verify your eligibility and benefits prior to your first session.
5. Are sessions in person or virtual?
All sessions are currently offered virtually through a secure telehealth platform. I provide online therapy to clients located throughout New Jersey.
6. How long are sessions?
Regular therapy sessions are typically 45–53 minutes. Initial intake sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes to allow additional time to discuss your history, current concerns, and what you hope to work on in therapy.
7. How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Over time, we can discuss whether a different frequency makes sense based on your needs, progress, and circumstances.
8 How long does therapy usually last?
There is no set timeline for therapy. Some clients come for support during a particular season of life, while others choose longer-term work focused on deeper patterns, relationships, and emotional growth.
We’ll check in along the way about your goals and how therapy is feeling. Ultimately, how long you remain in therapy is something we’ll navigate collaboratively.
9. Is everything discussed in therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with certain exceptions required by law or related to safety. We’ll review confidentiality and its limits more fully during the intake process.
10. How does payment and insurance work?
Prior to your first session, I will verify your insurance eligibility and benefits and help you understand your anticipated costs, which may include a deductible, copay, or coinsurance.
You can find additional information, including current in-network plans and self-pay rates, on the Insurance & Fees page.
